Since the summer of 2013 it's been possible to get from Ischia to Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius very simply by using the Tramvia shuttle service. Travelers from Ischia can take a hydrofoil to Beverello Port in Naples (or a ferry to Porto di Massa followed by a 5 minute free shuttle-bus to Beverello) and then just hop on the bus that goes to either the ruins of Pompeii, Mount Vesuvius or both, depending on which service you choose.
Please note, these services are only available during the tourist season.
Departure and return times from Naples Beverello to Pompeii Ruins or just Mount Vesuvius are as follows:
Departure Times: 09:45 hrs, 10:45, 11:45 & 12:45
Return Times: 13:30, 14:30, 15:30 & 16:30
Prices:
Naples to Pompeii - €15 for adults or €10 for children under 12 years old
Naples to Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius - €25 for adults or €20 for children under 12 years old
Prices do not include entry to the Mount Vesuvius walk (€10 per person) or the Pompeii Ruins (€11 per person).
Tickets can be bought on board the bus.
There is an additional stop along the route, at Piazza Garibaldi (outside the "Hotel Terminus") where visitors from Naples city centre can also join the tours. Piazza Garibaldi is in front of the main train station in Naples, Stazione Centrale.
